When patients are allowed to return home to recuperate, the benefits are two-fold: the cost of an extended hospital or nursing home stay is prevented and the patient often experiences a faster recovery.

Blue Ridge Home Health Care is a hospital-based program specially designed to provide patients with a wide variety of health care services, a sense of control and increased self-sufficiency.

Primary service area is Burke County, however, clients are also served in McDowell, Caldwell, Cleveland, and  Catawba counties.

Home Health Care Services at Blue Ridge Healthcare System include:

Nursing
All Blue Ridge Home Health Care nursing staff are qualified to provide skilled assessments, client and family education, observation, evaluation, development of plan of care, parenteral administration of medications, IV therapy, specimen collection for laboratory monitoring, ancillary lab testing along with other skilled services, nutritional counseling and enterostomal therapy.

• Oncology: Blue Ridge Home Health Care staff provide assessments and interventions related to cancer treatment.
• Wound Therapy: Blue Ridge Home Health Care staff monitor progress of patients with open wounds requiring nursing care. 

Rehabilitation
Physical, occupational and speech therapy services include evaluation, client and family education, observation, discharge planning, development of the plan of care and provision of therapy. 

Social Services
Supervised by a Senior Social Worker, the Social Work Assistants evaluate and develop the plan of care and provide social work intervention specializing in education, resources and information regarding financial services. 

Supplemental Staffing
Certified nursing assistants provide assistance with activities of daily living.
